Nore Barn Woods - Phase 3

Background

Approximately 20 years ago, Havant Borough Council constructed interlocking concrete block revetments along parts of the shoreline at Nore Barn Woods. These provided protection to the footpath and ancient woodland behind.

The defences have naturally deteriorated over time and in 2014 the community raised funds for a new 83m revetment. Our team oversaw the construction and it was completed in September 2014.

Next phase of works

The Coastal Partners are working in partnership with the Friends of Nore Barn Woods, a registered charity, to extend the existing revetment by a further 20m to the east. This will provide erosion control to the footpath and woods behind. The Friends of Nore Barn Woods have been able to raise the funds needed for this next phase of work, along with grants from:

·         The Friends of Chichester Harbour
·         Chichester Harbour Conservancy (Sustainable Development Fund)
·         Chichester Harbour Trust
·         The John Coates Charitable Trust
