"I joined Coastal Partners after completing my Masters qualification in Oceanography at the University of Southampton. My studies opened my eyes to the challenges of sea level rise and the complexities of an evolving coastline. I was thrilled to join a team of inspirational people on the frontline against climate change. By choosing a career at Coastal Partners, I am contributing to positive change and can make a difference to communities and the natural environment right now and into the future.
My role at Coastal Partners began as a project support officer to our major coastal defence projects in Portsmouth, including the Southsea Coastal Scheme. I then went on to fulfil the role of communications and engagement lead for two years. I soon developed an interest in the heritage and archaeological aspects of the work undertaken by our Environment Team. Coastal Partners supported me in growing into a specialised role as the heritage and archaeological coordinator on our projects. I have had the opportunity to work closely with contractors, regulators, and archaeologists on and off site, not to mention work directly with nationally important heritage assets and exciting archaeological discoveries!"

"I joined the team over 10 years ago and have progressed from a Graduate Civil Engineer to a Technical Lead. As well as providing a fantastic work life balance, working at Coastal Partners has exposed me to a variety of diverse projects and roles, including in house design lead for the award-winning Milton Common Flood Defence Scheme, project manager and NEC Site Supervisor to name a few. I work closely with contractors and designers each day to resolve buildability issues and ensure the works are being delivered to a high standard. I’m always exploring more innovative ways of working, including the use of UAV systems into all aspects of our projects…I’m even a qualified drone pilot!
The most appealing aspect of working at Coastal Partners for me is that every day is different. You are involved in taking a project from concept through to construction and can have a real impact on improving the local community."

"I joined Coastal Partners having completed an MSc in Engineering in the Coastal Environment and I haven’t looked back since. Coastal Partners has given me the opportunity to continue my development and showcase my passion for the work we do.
I have gained so much valuable experience, from first undertaking surveys and managing maintenance works to moving over to the Major Projects Team. Here, I have developed my Site Supervisor skills, working on multi-million pound construction schemes, including North Portsea Island and the Southsea Coastal Scheme, along with my Project Manager and Contract Management skills.
Not only do you get to work on fantastic projects which share Coastal Partners vision of managing coastlines, improving community resilience and enhancing the natural environment, you are surrounded by team members who are equally passionate about the coast and have a great depth of knowledge and experience. I look forward to and am excited for what the future might hold for us all working at Coastal Partners."
Joining Coastal Partners as a Business Support Technical Apprentice has been a truly rewarding experience. Although I’ve only been here six months, I’ve already gained hands-on experience in coastal management that’s broadened my knowledge and allowed me to make real contributions.
From the start, I’ve been welcomed by a team of passionate and knowledgeable professionals who are dedicated to protecting and improving our coastlines. I’ve had the chance to work on significant projects, learning both technical aspects and the essentials of project management, which has helped me understand the importance of coastal risk management.
The supportive atmosphere here has been invaluable, with mentors and colleagues who encourage my growth every step of the way. I’m excited to continue developing my skills with Coastal Partners and to contribute to projects that make a meaningful impact on both communities and the natural environment.
