Hill Head Beach

This lowering of the beach level exposed and undermined the concrete apron along a 10m section of the sea wall to the east of the Sailing Club, leaving a considerable overhang.

Maintenance works were carried out over 2 days in August 2015 to make the section safe.

This involved removing the concrete overhang and disposing of it off site, as well as collecting the concrete bags scattered along the foreshore and placing along the new foot of the apron.

These concrete bags will act as temporary erosion protection for the sea wall, helping to dissipate the wave energy, until a more permanent solution is implemented.

The work was carried out by Avon Construction Ltd.
