Solent Bird Studies
The Solent Bird Studies, which include The Solent Coastal Network Study and The Solent Bird Movement Study, were funded by the Environment Agency to enhance our understanding of the importance of roosting and inland feeding areas for waders and waterfowl in the Solent.
The Coastal Network Study focused on developing prioritised activities and opportunities for stakeholders in the Solent area to protect critically important bird roosting and feeding sites during high tides. It also aimed to identify locations and techniques that could serve as effective mitigation and compensation measures.
The Bird Movement Study aimed to improve our understanding of how birds move between different sites within the Solent. The ultimate goal is to understand, maintain, and enhance the network of environmental sites in the area and the connections between them.
