South Hayling Beach Maintenance - Spring 2026

Our Beach Management Contractor Les Searle Group will be setting up equipment along the Eastoke frontage at South Hayling Island from Monday 23rd February. This is in preparation for the Spring Beach Management work which is due to commence on Monday 2nd March 2026.

Works will involve the extraction of material from Gunner Point and behind the Coastguard revetment where it will then be transported to the Eastoke Frontage and used to reinforce existing beach defences ahead of the summer season. This method of beach recycling allows for us to work with nature to reuse the already existing material that has naturally accumulated on the Western end of the South Hayling seafront.

The works will involve the creation of a haulage route between the open beach and the Eastoke Frontage. During these works, the beach will remain open, but warning signs will be installed at key access points, and the haul road will be marked with traffic cones at 50-metre intervals along the landward side of the works.

Please exercise caution, as machinery will be active on the beach, operating at an appropriate speed. Please keep yourselves and young children safe by staying behind any barriers and keep dogs on leads when around heavy equipment.

Works will last approximately 5 weeks, with contractors generally working Monday to Friday between 07:00 and 18:00.
