South Hayling Timber Maintenance: Coastguard Revetment Works

Safety critical timber maintenance works are being carried out to the Coastguard Revetment on the South Hayling frontage. Havant Borough Council have appointed JT Mackley & Co Ltd. to carry out repairs to the revetment prior to the summer period, therefore allowing the timber steps to be reopened.

The work is scheduled to commence during the week starting 12th July 2021, and is expected to last 2-3 days on site. The repair work will involve the repair of the sloping timber revetment using FSC approved tropical hardwood timber. Once the repairs are carried out, the beach behind will be profiled to ensure the current lowered section is infilled and the steps can be safely reopened.

During the works you will see a small number of construction vehicles on the beach and lower foreshore. The maintenance will be carried out between Monday to Friday around low tide, and the beach will remain open to the public at all times. For your safety, please keep your distance from the machinery whilst it is present on the beach.
