Coastal flood and erosion defence repair works will start along a 20m section of Cador Drive Seawall week starting 10th June 2019. We expect the work to take 2-3 weeks.
Why is this happening?
We need to repair the Seawall to prevent further damage to this structure which protects the nearby housing from flooding and erosion. Fareham Borough Council are funding this work which is being carried out by Earlcoate Construction and Planthire Ltd, supervised by the Eastern Solent Coastal Partnership.
We expect the work to take 2-3 weeks, with work taking place during the daytime from 7am-7pm.
What will you experience?
An excavator and dumper will transport materials from the Contractors’ temporary compound to the works area. The existing foundations will be removed and some beach material will be excavated. New piling and concrete will then be installed to repair the seawall. You may experience higher noise and disruption while the piling and concrete is put in place, but the contractor will seek to minimise any disturbance as much as they can.
Access during the works
The coastal footpath will remain open during the works. The works will be undertaken from both the beach area and crest of the seawall. The Contractors’ compound will be set up on the grassed area opposite Wicor Mill Lane.
