Community Engagement

The project team have been engaging with the community to share developments and understand the opinions of residents and businesses. 

In April 2026, the Selsey Coastal Scheme hosted its second round of public engagement events at the Selsey Centre. These events aimed to:

• Provide residents with detailed information about the Scheme.
• Collect input from residents to ensure the scheme reflects community views.
• Build awareness and trust for the scheme and the project team.
• Address any specific questions or concerns raised by the public.

Around 260 people came to the events that focussed on the possible coastal defence options for Selsey. We asked for feedback on the options, and the response was very positive. Overall, 98% supported the options and 97% supported the scheme as a whole.
