Good news for Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Service and users of the public slipway. Improvements were made to the slipway to make it easier to launch and bring in larger boats.
There was a step down between the end of the slipway and the beach, which was making it difficult to bring larger boats back in. The gap was smoothed off with a layer of concrete at the end of the slipway. As well as making it easier to launch and return boats to shore, the extra concrete lengthened the slipway, making it useable in all tide and weather conditions.
The work lasted approximately 1 week and included the August Bank Holiday weekend. The work was carried out during low spring tides. The specialist repair and refurbishment company APA Concrete Repairs Ltd was hired to carry out the work. The £17,000 job was funded by the council.
