Caroline Barford

Bio

Caroline graduated from the University of Portsmouth with a BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering, initially working as a Highway Engineer for Swale Borough Council in Kent before returning to Portsmouth in 2001 to work as a PortEngineer with Portsmouth City Council where she managed and supervised a variety of projects at Portsmouth International Port along with supervision of works on the Spinnaker Tower. Caroline then transferred to the Coastal Teamin 2006. Caroline has been with the partnership since its formation, taking forward her spatial lead role for Portsmouth, and expanding the Coastal Flood Response Management role. Caroline took on the Asset Management Supervisor role and Spatial Lead for Gosport along with gaining management skills to support the other Spatial Leads in the team. 

In 2017 she was the NEC Supervisor managing the site works for the Hillhead Sea wall replacement, training up others now in Major Projects with site supervision skills. 

In 2018 she moved to the Major Projects Team, bringing her maintenance and construction experience, and returning to larger schemes. She was involved with the Gosport FCERM schemes during the design phase and moved to her current role as Lead Supervisor for the Southsea Coastal Scheme in Autumn 2021. In this role she manages a small team of supervisors, who work alongside her to ensure that the works on site are undertaken to the required standards and in a safe manner. 

She shares her Construction and Supervision skills with others in the team leading training sessions for those starting out their careers within Coastal Partners. 

She is a NEC4 Accredited Supervisor and holds the CITB SMSTS Qualification. 

Outside of work Caroline loves to travel, which she has been able to combine with her volunteer work with Guiding & Scouting.
