Jess joined Coastal Partners as Habitats Regulations and Environment Impact Assessment Specialist in August 2026. Jess has a BSc in Marine Ecology and Conservation (2017), a MRes in lagoon benthic ecology (2019), and a PhD in coastal eco-engineering (2024) from Bournemouth University. Jess is a Chartered Marine Scientist with the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) and leads the Marine Eco-Engineering Working Group. She has published her PhD thesis research in scientific journals, including Ecological Engineering, Science of the Total Environment, and Frontiers in Marine Science.
Prior to Coastal Partners, Jess was a research assistant on the EU-funded Marineff research project, and worked briefly for Natural England on the marine net gain policy development. She then joined global consultancy Mott MacDonald for a year and a half, working on environmental regulatory reporting for coastal development projects, before then joining Coastal Partners.
