Mark Stratton

Bio

Mark is a specialist in the broad field of Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) at Coastal Partners and has helped to shape and grow the organisation, as part of the leadership team, in response to coastal change. He has worked at Coastal Partners since 2012 and is responsible for the leadership and management of the Policy, Environment and Research team. This team consists of 21 officers working on the delivery of a wide range of FCERM strategies, schemes and environmental and research projects.

Mark is a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Water & Environmental Management (CIWEM) and has a robust understanding of the disciplines that underpin sustainable coastal management. He places high value on the importance of its protection, conservation and natural evolution from both a social and natural perspective. He has over 18 years’ experience in this multidisciplinary sector and has worked across, and with, a broad range of organisations both within the UK and mainland Europe.

Mark is also the Chair of the CIWEM Expert Panel for FCERM, a respected role in the sector and is also a key and active member of the national Local Government Association Coastal Special Interest Group (LGA Coastal SIG) and Southern Coastal Group; lobbying through these networks to effect and influence positive change in the sector.

Mark has a BSc in Oceanography from the University of Southampton and an MSc in Applied Marine Science from the Plymouth University.
