Repairs to damaged sea wall along four sections of the coastal path from Portsmouth's Mountbatten Centre to the Lido will get underway on 19 April to ensure the area is fully operational in time for summer.
Work is progressing on the Portsmouth City Council North Portsea Island Phase 4 scheme. Before our contractor Mackley starts work on the defences next to the coastal path, a section of the coastal path will be temporarily closed from 1st July 2020, as shown in the map below.
Work begins on the first stage, Kendall's Wharf, on 25th November 2019 and will continue until Spring 2020. The works include the construction of an earth embankment and wall, as well as raising the access road into Kendall's Wharf.
The next phase of plans to protect North Portsea Island from the risk of coastal flooding are underway following approval of the planning application for the first package of work in the Kendall's Wharf area of North Portsea Island.
