Langstone Coastal Defence Scheme Update - July 2021

Book your place at our upcoming Community Participation Evenings

Coastal Partners and consultants AECOM will be hosting Community Participation Evenings for the Langstone FCERM Scheme on July 21st and July 22nd, between 4pm and 7pm. These events will be hosted in Langstone and include a tour of the frontages.

The objectives of the participation evenings are:

  • To update – Coastal Partners and AECOM will update those in attendance on the recent progress of the project, the key tasks which are being undertaken at the moment and the programme going forward
  • To Listen – Coastal Partners and AECOM want to hear your views, ideas and aspirations for the flood defences in key areas. Moving forward AECOM will use this information to help shape future design decisions.
  • To answer questions – AECOM will answer your questions on the existing outline design and explain the rationale behind some of the design decisions taken to date.
  • To illustrate – AECOM plan to bring along cut-out sections representative of the height of the proposed flood defence walls. These will be used to assess impacts on views.
  • To build consensus – We hope to build a consensus among the community on your preferred way forward.

Going forward, AECOM will use the information gathered during the Community Participation Evenings to help shape the detailed design of the flood defences.

The participation evenings will be held outside and will involve visiting sections of the frontage for on-site discussions. The detailed agenda can be found below:

We will be in touch to confirm registration shortly before the event.

Please also use the online registration to ask any questions that you may have relating to the flood defence proposals, prior to events taking place. We will endeavor to answer your questions during the events and will compile a ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ document that will be shared on these project webpages, alongside further information about the scheme as it progresses.
