North Portsea Island Phase 4b Update - Week 20
“Mind the Gap”
Now the walls are complete in front of the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre and the foreshore has been restored, we are starting to build the flood defence wall to fill the gap where our access to the foreshore once was.
The project has received attention from the environment journal, for our work of planting a wildflower meadow and the plan to establish bee posts to aid pollination.
The wildflower seeds planted in the area include 19 British native species that are suitable for living in an area close to the coast, including Haresfoot Clover and Evening Primrose. The bee posts are made of either timber or concrete. Bee posts have small holes to provide a nesting site for solitary bees.
