North Portsea Island Phase 4b Update - Week 21
Reflection
We are continuing to build the flood defence wall from the sailing club to the coast in front of Airport Service Road. The last few bays (sections) of continuous full-height flood defence walls are nearing completion.
The photos below show the last few remaining bays being completed, with the yellow metal shutters on two bays being filled with concrete. Once the concrete has set, the shutters are removed the next day and the formliner is cleaned and prepared for the next use. Both are then used on the next bay.
This week the spring tides have reached the new wall, and a nice reflection was visible in the water. This is a good time to reflect on what has been achieved and our next blog posts over the autumn will focus on the progress in the first year of construction and the positive environmental enhancements incorporated into the Scheme.
