South Hayling Beach Management - March 2023

Havant Borough Council will be carrying out an annual beach recycling campaign during March 2023. These works will help reinstate the beach profile following the winter period and will help to reduce the risk of coastal flooding and erosion to the properties at Eastoke.

Beach recycling is the movement of material from areas of beach build up to areas of erosion. This helps to restore beach levels and increase the standard of protection at Eastoke.

The work will be carried out between the Fun Fair in the west and Eastoke Point in the east.

Ovenden Earthmoving Co Ltd will be undertaking the work. You should expect to see heavy machinery on the beach during the campaign.

The works are due to start on site on 20th March 2023 and will last for up to two weeks on site, weather dependant.

The heavy machinery will run along the beach crest for the duration of the work. You may see ridges from the truck tyres in the beach while the work is undertaken. These will be removed once all work is completed.
